DeviceKite is a static website. There is no account, no sign-in and no form that sends your data to us. Every test runs in your own browser, on your own device.
Microphone and camera
The microphone, webcam and webcam + mic tests ask your browser for access only after you press their start button, never when a page loads. The sound and picture are analysed on your device to draw the level meter, the waveform and the preview and to measure numbers such as the level in dBFS, the resolution and the frame rate. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
If you press "Record", the recording is kept in your browser’s memory only, so you can play it back or download it yourself. It is not uploaded and it disappears when you reload or leave the page. Webcam snapshots work the same way: they are saved only if you download them.
Pressing Stop, leaving the page or hiding the tab for more than a minute releases the device, so your system’s microphone or camera indicator turns off. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your browser’s site settings.
Keyboard, mouse, gamepad and screen tests
Key presses, clicks, mouse movements and controller input are read by the page only to light up the test and calculate results such as clicks per second or a polling-rate estimate. They are not logged, stored or sent anywhere; the event log you see on the keyboard test lives only in the open page and is gone when you leave it.
The typing test compares what you type with the sample text on your device. Your typing is not stored or transmitted; only the final scores are kept, and only locally (see below).
What is stored on your device
Your results and preferences are kept in your browser’s local storage under keys that start with "p10:": your chosen microphone, camera and keyboard layout, your theme, and your personal bests and recent results in the skill tests (reaction time, clicks per second, spacebar, aim and typing). They never leave your device and we cannot see them.
You can delete them at any time with the "Clear my results" button below or on each skill test, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
One more entry records your privacy choice (see below), so you are not asked again on every page.
Analytics
We count visits with Google Analytics 4, using Google Consent Mode. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it stores nothing on your device until you agree. Elsewhere it runs by default and you can switch it off at any time through “Privacy settings” in the footer.
Analytics tells us which pages are opened, from which country and on which kind of device. It never receives your microphone, camera, keystrokes, clicks or test results, and we do not combine it with other data. Google processes this data as our processor; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
Advertising
There is no advertising on DeviceKite at the moment. If we add it, it will be served by Google AdSense; in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland consent will be collected through Google’s certified consent tool, and this page will be updated before any advertising starts. Ads will never be shown inside a test or in full-screen mode, and they never receive your microphone, camera or keystrokes.
Hosting and fonts
The site is delivered by Cloudflare, which processes the technical data any web request contains (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Fonts are served from this site, not from a font CDN.
Children
DeviceKite is a general-audience site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase and restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority; in Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO). Because DeviceKite holds no personal data about you, most requests can be met by clearing your browser data or changing your privacy settings. For anything else, write to us.
Who is responsible
The controller of your personal data is the operator of devicekite.com, an independent sole trader based in Poland. Privacy requests: contact@devicekite.com.
