About DeviceKite
Last updated: October 23, 2026
DeviceKite is a lab for the things you plug in and press: a microphone test, a webcam test, a speaker and headphone test, a keyboard test with real layouts for many languages, mouse and gamepad testers, a dead-pixel test, and skill tests such as reaction time, clicks per second, a spacebar clicker, an aim trainer and a typing test.
Each page has one job: tell you in a few seconds whether your device works and how well, without installing anything, and without anything being recorded or uploaded.
How the tests measure
Everything is measured in your browser with standard web interfaces: the Web Audio API for microphone levels (in dBFS, decibels relative to full scale), the camera API and frame callbacks for real resolution and measured frame rate, keyboard and pointer events for keys and buttons, the Gamepad API for controllers, and animation-frame timing for the refresh rate.
Where a number is an estimate, we say so. A browser cannot see some things: the Fn key, the true hardware latency of a mouse, or a keyboard’s polling rate above what the system passes on. We never print a made-up “quality score”.
How we check accuracy
The calculations behind every number (dBFS, clicks per second, reaction statistics, words per minute, polling and refresh estimates, stick drift, free-fall time in the ruler test) are unit-tested against reference values from standards and physics, listed on the "How we test" page. Keyboard layouts are drawn from the layout documentation of the operating-system makers and checked key by key.
How we make money
DeviceKite is free. In the future it may show a small number of ads, placed away from the tests, never inside a test area and never in full-screen mode. There are no paid placements.
Who runs it
DeviceKite is run by the operator of devicekite.com, an independent sole trader based in Poland. Questions and corrections: contact@devicekite.com.
